Biggs Flame 181

  • 1495

Biggs Flame, a new material out of the Biggs Jasper area, formed as a vented rhyolite and contains brilliant red flames and small spots of opal.  As the mineral filled steam vents solidified the contents created colorful and distinct wood-grained patterns.  The black certainly sets off the red flame in spectacular fashion.  The material can be difficult to work with as it is brittle and has some fracturing to contend with, however, the finished products will take a great polish and produce highly desirable cabs.

Origin:  Oregon

Dimensions: 2.5" x 2.5 and approximately 7 mm thick.  Weight = 55 gr.

Shown wet. Not polished. Known flaws are shown as white lines in the final picture frame.
