Chrome Chalcedony Slab 189

Mtorolite is also known as Chrome Chalcedony or Aquaprase. The name is derived from Mutorashanga, a small ferrochrome mining town in Zimbabwe where the mineral was discovered in the 1950s. It is a green gemstone variety of chalcedony, a type of microcrystalline quartz, colored by small quantities of chromium. It is characterized by its vibrant green color often displaying patterns and veining reminiscent of jade. It is prized for its beauty and rarity and makes rich and lustrous cabs.

Origin:  Zimbabwe

Dimensions:  4.25" x 2.25" and approximately 7.1 mm thick.  Weight = 77 grams. 

Shown wet.  Not polished.  Known flaws are shown as white lines
