Malachite Rock Slab 12
Malachite was first mined over 4000 years ago for copper. It forms at shallow depths in the oxidizing zone above copper deposits. It is typically found as stalactites and botryoidal coatings, which when slabbed the surfaces exhibit the characteristic banding and eyes. The intense green color and beautiful patterns are highly desirable for carving, cabbing, or beading. Some malachite also has other minerals (azurite, calcite, chalcopyrite, and occasionally chrysocolla) incorporated into the formations. These slab exhibit not only the common patterns but also include chatoyant pieces and exquisite plumes.
