Ochoco Tube Agate 480
Ochoco is a historically renowned Oregon agate from the Ochoco National Forest of Central Oregon, which is home to many well-known agates including Maury Moss agate, and Ochoco tube agate, and various thundereggs. It is an old stock tube agate, most likely dug in the 70’ s or 80’ s as the majority of Ochoco Tube Agate has been long since tapped out.
A translucent to milky agate which is beautiful, even without a great variety of color as it contains soft white ghosting fortifications or overlapping tube structures with creamy brown centers. It is a solid agate that takes an excellent polish. It makes beautiful jewelry especially when formed into doublets using lapis, red jasper or obsidian for a backing, which accentuates the inclusions.
