Petrified Peanut Wood Rock slab 11
Peanut wood is silicified (petrified) wood, generally of black color with numerous light colored borings, which were made by marine wood-boring clams. When the wood became waterlogged and sank in the ocean the holes filled with sediment. The wood petrified sometime later. These complete rounds, polished on one side are great examples of peanut wood.
