Royal Imperial Jasper Polished Specimen 9953

  • 1995

Imperial Jasper from Mexico, distinguished as one of the “five fine” jaspers has been a long time favorite with the lapidary artist due to its hardness and wide variety of colors.  Each area of a rather large deposit outside of Guadalajara seems to produce it’s own distinct colors and patterns including pink, brown, green, and spiderweb. It takes an outstanding polish which makes very desirable cabs.

Royal Imperial Jasper is found close to the other Imperial deposits but is somewhat different in that it is formed entirely as nodules. These unique nodules have a high percentage of the "egg" pattern often associated with these types of jaspers.  The great variety makes this polished heel an excellent collector’s piece.

 Origin:  Mexico

Dimensions: 1.75" x 1.25" and approximately 11 mm thick.  Weight = 22 g.

Shown dry.  Polished.  May contain flaws which do not affect the integrity of the piece.
