Sonora Sunrise Rock Slab 257

  • 4495

Sonora Sunrise is a highly desirable tri-color jasper out of Mexico. It is made up of Chrysocolla, which is a beautiful blue/green, and Cuprite, which is the red/orange interspersed with black iron banding.  The contrast of these bold colors produces striking cabochons and is a mainstay for southwestern themed jewelry. Once plentiful, this material is increasingly difficult to obtain, especially slabs that display all three colors.  This material is old stock and shows deeply saturated reds.

Origin:  Mexico

Dimensions:  5" x 3" and approximately 7 mm thick.  Weight = 207 grams.

Shown wet.  Not polished.  Known flaws are shown as black lines in the final picture frame.
