Imperial Jasper Slab 466

  • 1995

Imperial Jasper from Mexico, distinguished as one of the “five-fine” jaspers has been a long time favorite with the lapidary artist, due to its hardness and wide variety of colors.  Each area outside of Guadalajara seems to produce its own distinct colors and patterns including pink, red, brown, green, and spiderweb. It has been a number of years since any new material has been widely available and we were able to acquire this “red imperial” at the winter 2024 Arizona show.  It takes an outstanding mirror-like polish which makes very desirable cabs.

Origin:  Mexico

Dimensions:  3.25" x 2" and approximately 7.1 mm thick.  Weight = 52 grams.

Shown wet.  Not polished. Flaws are shown as white lines in the last picture frame.
