Paul Bunyan agate exhibits magnificent "plumey" spires of brick red against a white background with black/gray accents.  This material was actively gathered by rockhounds in the Southern California region for many years as a public access deposit.  It has since been put under private claim and is currently inactive, so the material is becoming very hard to obtain.  It is a great agate material, polishes beautifully and is a great addition to any collection.

Dimensions:  6" x 4" and approximately 9 mm thick at the top tapering to 5 mm at the bottom.  Weight = 276 grams.
