Peruvian Pink Opal Slab 282

  • 6995

Peruvian pink opal is a very rare color variety of opal found only in the Peruvian desert in a small area near Ica, Peru. It is known for its distinctive pastel color, ranging in color from nearly white, to saturated deep pink, or soft carnation pink, and lilac, with the latter being the rarest. This is a type of common opal (lacks the flashy fire of precious opal) that shows a glowing opalescence created from the deposited silicate minerals during formation, and can exhibit a range of patterns, including mottled, dendritic (tree-like inclusions), and sometimes even a “star” effect.

Origin: Peru

Dimensions: 4.5 x 3.75" and is approximately 7 mm thick. Weight = 168 grams.
