Pietersite is a very popular stone from Africa, noted for its brilliant chatoyant patterns of lightning blue/black and occasionally red/gold. Highly sought by the lapidary enthusiast, it produces spectacular finished pieces with great brilliance and flash. It is a hard silica material that has been formed by a rare geological replacement process, and is only found in quantity at 3 locations in the world.

This slab is a tumble polished trim piece.

Origin:  Africa

Dimensions:  1.5" x 1.25" and approximately 6 mm thick. This piece has a slight taper from 7.6 at the bottom to 6.3 at the top. Weight = 22 g.
