Reyes agate Rock slab 53

  • 1995

Reyes agate from Mexico is a colorful moss agate with red/gold highlights on a dark background. The deposit is located near the famous Cathedral agate mines and displays an intricate pattern of brightly colored moss/plume that takes a superb polish and makes very striking finished cabs. Although it is a relatively obscure material, it exhibits a distinctive pattern of color that sets it apart from other agate material from the same area. The seam is quite narrow, so large pieces of this agate are very hard to get.

Origin:  Mexico

Dimensions:  3.25" x 2.5" and approximately 7.3 mm thick.  Weight = 100 grams.

Shown wet.  Not polished. Flaws are shown as white lines in the final picture frame.
