Shadow Mountain

Shadow Mountain, originally discovered by Jake Jacobitz, is an old picture jasper that comes from the Craig Gulch area of the Owyhee Mountains. Much of this BLM area now falls under the “Wilderness Study Area” so large scale mining operations have given way to surface collecting only, and the material is hard to obtain.  It is known for its bold patterns and deep blue sky, as well as intricate soft red and gold hills all which present as terrific landscape scenes in cabochons.  It is a hard jasper and takes a great polish.
