Mescalero Slab 62

  • 1795

Mescalero, from the heart of Nevada’s soon to be closed jasper mining area that has produced Dead Camel, Fire Ledge and Red Falcon, has been the standard by which other regional jaspers are measured.  Noted for its diverse color and pattern, Mescalero is a fantastic and highly desirable cabbing material that is very hard (porcelain like) and takes a high polish.  Fissures and pits are common in this jasper but can easily be worked around and a slab will produce several bold and uniquely inspiring cabs.

Origin:  Nevada

Dimensions: 3" x 2.25" and approximately 6.9 mm thick.  Weight = 54 grams.

Shown wet.  Not polished.  Known flaws are shown as white lines in the final picture frame.
