Mexican Tube Agate Rock Slab 04

  • 1995

This tube agate is the first material out from a new discovery in Mexico.  The dark pink/brick red inclusions are surrounded by a soft lavender fortification pattern and randomly spread throughout the piece. Tube agate forms when extremely thin mineral rods grow inside the silica gel before the gel solidifies and the chalcedony forms.  Finished pieces will surely be interesting and demand a lot of attention.

Origin:  Mexico

Dimensions:  4.25" x 3" and approximately 7.2 mm thick.   Weight = 131 grams.

Shown wet.  Not polished.  Flaws are shown as white lines in the final picture frame.
