Petrified Wood Slab 192
Hubbard Basin petrified wood is a highly prized, colorful, agatized wood found in Elko County, Nevada, dating back 6 to 22 million years (Miocene epoch). Most specimens from this location are highly silicated petrified spruce trees or larger conifers with excellent growth ring preservation. These specimens are renowned for vibrant, contrasting, and, often translucent, patterns of red, orange, blue, and brown which make them popular for high-quality polished slabs, large-scale display pieces, and sometimes used by lapidary artists for cabochons. It is considered one of the most desirable types of petrified wood for collectors.
