Variscite Rock Slab 0109

  • 3495

Variscite is a relatively rare aluminum phosphate mineral closely related to turquoise in its chemical composition.  This material from Australia is noted for its glowing green color, varying in intensity from a light, mint green to a vibrant Kelly green often "webbed" in a gray matrix.  Although softer than agate or jasper (somewhere around 5 on the Moh's scale) it takes a great polish and makes wonderful finished pieces.

Origin:  Utah

Dimensions:  2.5" x 2" and is approximately 5.3 mm thick.  Weight = 42 grams.

Shown wet.  Not polished. Flaws are shown as white lines in the final picture frame.
